In our country Food laws and related litigation
is an emerging issue after a few incidents like Nestlé’s “Maggi” issue.
Prior to this people though that it’s not a serious matter. Food laws are not
new to this country but the level of awareness is very shocking. Most of us
don’t know about FSSAI, AGMARK, ISI and so many other quality norms made by
government. This is one of the biggest tragedies in this country and there are
so many small industrialists get the advantage of such knowledge gap.
Contamination and adulteration within
the popular and branded food materials could be most dangerous things in our
regular life. This is not a problem
found in India but in the most of the part of world. That’s why need of strict
food laws became a necessity for everybody in this world. If we discuss about
the scenario in Indian food law, we can say it’s still not a serious matter of
concern for common people.
There are so many things in our
life which is important for us but food is the most important thing and the
base of our life. Quality of food materials is matter of debate and concern
since long time. Not only laws but awareness plays a major role as far as it
concern to the quality of food materials. People should understand that it’s
not only the responsibility of state or central government but they do have to
take social responsibility to resolve this issue. Awareness is the only one
solution to resolve food quality related issues. Western countries are very
sensitive in such issues like packaging and labelling
services but India do
have to be alert now to eliminate the discrepancy in this aspect.
